MARGUS: automated maritime guardianship via unmanned systems

From satellite alert to on-the-water response — protecting the marine ecosystem, proactively.

Guardianship of the sea, from space to surface

MARGUS (Maritime Automated Response and Guardianship via Unmanned Systems) turns satellite Earth Observation into on-the-water action: AI detects environmental threats such as spills and marine litter, and a fleet of autonomous surface drones is automatically coordinated to classify and contain them.

An automated end-to-end chain

Real-time Earth Observation feeds a MARGUS edge infrastructure hosted at the port site, where AI screens satellite data for environmental threats. A dedicated MARGUS private network then activates and coordinates a fleet of autonomous surface drones (USV), which classify the threat in situ through Edge AI and carry out a first containment intervention.

What we aim to achieve

detect

An AI system identifies environmental threats from satellite Earth Observation data with target accuracy above 90%.

coordinate

A Command & Control platform automatically activates and coordinates a fleet of autonomous surface drones in response to a satellite alert.

intervene

Smart USVs classify the threat in situ through Edge AI and perform a first containment intervention directly on site.
